London South Bank University is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Skills and Simulation Technical Team Leader to provide high-quality technical leadership and support within the Clinical Skills and Simulation Laboratories for the College of Health and Life Sciences, across the Southwark, Havering, and Croydon campuses.
This is a varied and hands on leadership role, responsible for the effective operation of clinical skills and simulation environments supporting teaching, assessment, research, and external activity. You will lead the preparation and use of specialist spaces and equipment, provide expert technical support, and play a key role in developing the technical team. You will work closely with academic colleagues ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality learning environments.
The role includes maintaining and troubleshooting a range of simulation equipment, training, procurement, health and safety responsibilities and liaison with external suppliers and partners.
About You
You will have substantial experience working as a Clinical Skills and Simulation Technician within higher education, alongside strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of simulation equipment and software used in healthcare education. You will be confident configuring systems for a range of clinical scenarios.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to clearly explain technical concepts to less experienced users and will have a demonstrable commitment to delivering high quality, customer focused technical support in an academic or professional environment.
As a key member of the Clinical Skills and Simulation technical team, you will lead and support technicians in the preparation and running of skills and simulation sessions, present and demonstrate specialist technologies to stakeholders, support practical teaching, assessments (including OSCEs), research activity, and external or enterprise use of facilities, contribute to the development of teaching and simulation activities and ensure clinical and simulation environments operate safely and efficiently.
