About the role:

The National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) will hold three British Heart Foundation DTPs from October 2026, being the lead institute on two of them. These awards are very prestigious and provide a world leading opportunity for us to deliver cutting edge global research and train the next generation. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join a dynamic research and education environment with the new BHF Doctoral Training Programme (DTP).

As the DTP Administrator, you will be part of a busy team led by the Education Manager, working closely with the DTP Directors to support the effective setup and day‑to‑day operations of the BHF DTP. Your responsibilities will include organising cohort training events, managing recruitment and selection processes, supporting external reporting through accurate data provision, and maintaining comprehensive student records.

This role requires experience in managing large scientific/academic activities, reporting and use of variety of systems and serves as an excellent opportunity to any administrator wishing to broaden their skills and enhance their career within higher education. 

What you would be doing:

The successful candidate will report to the Education Manager and will work closely with the DTP Leadership Team to support activities across the programme. The main purpose of this role is to provide high quality administrative and day-to-day support to the ensure the smooth running of the programme. This includes being the first point of contact for PhD students on the programme for administrative queries, coordinating the taught activities in year 1, calls for research projects and industry partnerships and the annual student symposium.

Further Information:

This is a part-time post (2.5 days or 17.5 hours per week). The working pattern can be discussed and agreed but will be predominantly onsite. This role is for a fixed-term contract for 4 years in the first instance.
