About The Role

The above full time role is available immediately on a fixed term basis covering maternity leave until the 31st of December 2028.

The starting salary will be from £33,951 to £39,906 on Grade E, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time on campus and some from home. 

About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our HR Global Employment team. The role will provide first level professional support and advice to managers and staff across the University on global employment matters and support the University’s day-to-day overseas employment operations including international HR advisory work, global employment arrangements, contingent worker rules and data management. The role also offers opportunities to support large transformation projects and development initiatives as our international initiatives develop. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the HR team and the wider organisation to ensure consistency of practice in HR Global Employment procedures and processes.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for the provision of professional Global Employment advice and supporting the internal upskilling of our people on overseas employment matters.
  • Completing due diligence reports, assessing the feasibility, risks, costs and timescales associated to the University’s Global Employment projects and recommending the best course of action to achieve business objectives.
  • Providing support to the Global Employment Manager on transformation and development projects as required.

We are looking for people with:

  • Recent successful experience of working as a Global Mobility professional, and/or working in a technical tax advisory team
  • Strong understanding of cross‑border tax and social security rules, including double‑tax treaties, A1 certificates, totalisation agreements, and residency considerations.
  • Experience coordinating external mobility providers, such as tax advisors, immigration lawyers and payroll agents.
  • The ability to quickly learn new skills, be resilient and adapt to a complex environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts, transfer knowledge and build positive working relationships. 

There are two posts, which are available immediately, on a fixed term until December 2028 and Spring 2027. The posts are available on a full-time basis, but we will consider part-time, job share and flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working (at our campuses in Exeter and Penryn, Cornwall) and remote working in the United Kingdom, with occasional trips to our campus in Exeter.
