The flagship York School of Architecture is one of the University of York’s exciting transformational initiatives. The School’s expertise is interdisciplinary, building on York’s existing research strengths in culture, community, computation, environment and geography, heritage, and social policy to create a school that supports our commitment to public good. We seek to appoint part-time studio practitioners to take leading roles in supporting the development and teaching of the academic studio curriculum. The successful applicant should have teaching experience and a demonstrable record of delivering projects and working in a team.
The role is available from 1 October 2026 as a Pro Rata 0.2 FTE term time only role.
Role
The role holder will contribute to the delivery of excellent teaching in the design studio within the School. You will be joining an exciting new School with a clear intention to deliver environmentally and culturally-aware education to a new generation of architects. These roles are fractional term time only posts.
We are interested to appoint practicing architects on a part-time term time only basis to bring their practice experience to the student learning experience and to continue to practice while teaching. The course has an emphasis on the professional role of the architect and practice experience will be essential in this role.
This role will be working in the design studio to bring the expertise of practice to our students to apply to their studio design projects to ensure that they have knowledge related to current practice in architecture that can inform the design of student studio projects.
