This post is full time (35 hours per week) and is fixed term for up to 2 years.
In this role, the successful candidate will work on a 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership funded programme to undertake a key role in supporting technology transfer to industry by developing semiconductor sensor technologies prototypes. This involves designing and fabricating prototype sensors, using advanced materials and semiconductor assembly techniques, while ensuring designs are practical for real-world usage. The postholder will lead on CAD design, creating detailed models and layouts that guide the heterogenous integration and the manufacturing process. In addition, they will also support reliability testing to evaluate durability, and consistency, helping to iteratively refine designs and ensure the final product meets technical and commercial requirements.
The industrial partner for this project is Neuranics Limited (https://neuranics.com/). Neuranics design and develop a unique class of tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensor distinguished by a proprietary customized ASIC development not available in any competing product. Combined with machine learning algorithms, we have devices that offer high sensitivity, low power consumption, and compact form factors. This overcomes performance and geometric limitations of conventional TMR sensors and allows for rapid positioning measurements.
The post will be predominantly based at Neuranics offices in Glasgow City Centre with visits to the University of Glasgow campus.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Professor Jeff Kettle at Jeff.Kettle@glasgow.ac.uk
