The University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university that makes a positive difference to the world built on excellence in research and the provision of an outstanding student experience. Our commitment to delivering high-quality learning and teaching continues to reflect our founding mission as a place of useful learning. The University is looking for an impressive individual to deliver a high-quality secretariat to Senate and Senate Business Committee, and to manage Senate Academic Appeals and the University’s Student Discipline Procedures (Academic and Non-academic). The post holder will lead a small team within the Quality Enhancement and Assurance Team (QEAT) within the Directorate of Education Enhancement to provide support to Senior Officers of the University, including the Vice-Principal and University Secretary, in the management of Senate and Senate Business Committees. They will have excellent communication skills and the confidence to identify and suggest enhancements to senior colleagues in relation to the processes and activities surrounding Senate and appeals and discipline processes and procedures.

A key area of responsibility will be to manage Senate Academic Appeals and Stage 2 of the Student Discipline Procedures, reviewing and interpreting complex information and producing clear and concise reports for the Vice-Principal, the University Secretary and the Deputy Associate Principals. An element of this responsibility is the provision of a range of resources for students and staff to enhance understanding of the Student Discipline Procedures and its various stages. The post holder will regularly provide advice to colleagues undertaking earlier stages of the Student Discipline Procedures and will convene the Misconduct Officers forum to share and develop good practice and ensure training and support is established to ensure Officers have the appropriate skills to manage disciplinary investigations. Working closely with colleagues in the Directorate of Student Experience and the faculties, the Senate Manager will be responsible for managing the introduction and implementation of a student case management system focusing initially on disciplinary cases with scope to expand into academic appeals.

Applicants for this role will have experience of working with senior colleagues within Higher Education, and of servicing formal committees. They will be experienced in managing student casework and will be required to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating sound judgement and a keen eye for detail.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on 22nd and 23rd June 2026.
