We are seeking a proactive and skilled Communications Coordinator to manage the Department's digital presence, and promote our world-class research and teaching activities. This role is integral to enhancing the Department's visibility and reputation, both within and outside the University.
The postholder will manage the Department's websites and social media, support teaching via digital platforms, while promoting the Department's research through press releases, blogs and other media. The postholder will also provide guidance to researchers on social media usage for research promotion and assist them with public engagement and outreach projects, advising on research group/facility websites as needed.
The postholder will also coordinate outreach activities attracting high-calibre students from diverse backgrounds. Alongside these responsibilities, the postholder will provide administrative support alongside organising meetings, events (conferences, workshops) and school engagement initiatives. This will include identifying and securing funding for outreach activities while tracking budgets and managing event logistics, such as health and safety.
The postholder will liaise with the University Communications Office on branding and external relations, coordinating marketing materials for undergraduate/graduate programmes. The coordinator will also develop and implement the Departments' communications strategy, gathering and analysing feedback from events to inform future planning to enhance Department visibility.
You will join us with proven experience working in a communications role with a track record of writing and producing content for digital and online channels. You will be able to demonstrate your excellent communication and possess strong technical literacy: with an ability to understand and communicate complex scientific and educational concepts to diverse audiences, using your initiative alongside your proficient organisational and IT skills (including web content systems). The successful candidate will also be willing to occasionally work outside normal hours for events.
