We have an exciting opportunity within the Alumni and Supporter Engagement team in this, our University Centenary year.

The Alumni team forms part of the Communications and Engagement department within the University’s External Relations Directorate. We work collaboratively and cross-functionally, both with our academic Schools and departments, but also across a wide range of External Relations colleagues and other Professional Services teams.

Our Alumni and Supporter Communications Officers work to strengthen a lifelong connection with the University for our graduates through a programme of targeted communications and engagement. Our operational focus is to keep our alumni engaged in the ongoing life of the University, and also to provide them with opportunities to share memories and connect with other alumni, both in the UK and internationally. At an institutional level, our aim is to involve our global alumni wherever we can in the delivery of the University’s strategic goals and ambitions.

Our centenary year in 2026 provides us with a unique and special opportunity to celebrate both the past successes and the exciting future for the University of Reading, and it is key for our alumni to be part of those celebrations. Our alumni are also vital in the continued growth and development of our international University footprint.

In this role of Alumni and Supporter Communications Officer you will work to identify and develop content for use across a broad range of channels, with a particular focus on digital communications. You will work to deliver against our communications plans to meet both internal and cross-functional deadlines. You will need to champion University objectives and messaging yet also reflect alumni/supporter preferences and interests, informed by research, feedback and the analysis of communications performance.

You will be an individual with demonstrable and impactful marcomms experience, Imagination and creativity aligned with an efficient and planned approach will be vital in this role, as will the ability to build good networks in order to source engaging content from both within the University and externally.

We welcome applications from both external and internal candidates. As part of the University’s ongoing commitment to professional development, this role can be considered on a seconded basis for existing staff members. Internal candidates should discuss this with their line manager prior to applying.

Apply to join our team at this very exciting time in our University’s history, and help us make our Centenary year a global celebration of, and for, our alumni.
