Description of College/Department
The Department of Psychology (https://www.brunel.ac.uk/psychology) at Brunel University London is a research-active and diverse community with strengths spanning cognitive and clinical neuroscience, and culture and evolution. We deliver undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and are expanding our clinical provision, including new postgraduate pathways. Our priorities include strengthening research quality and funding, enhancing student experience, and developing external partnerships, particularly with clinical and NHS organisations.

Description of the role
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer or Reader in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area (e.g., counselling psychology or mental health) to support the strategic development of clinical and mental health provision within the Department.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, mental health, and related topics, including module design and delivery, marking, student supervision, and developing new clinically oriented provision.

The postholder will maintain an internationally recognised research programme, producing high-quality outputs and demonstrating sustained contribution to internationally excellent research. They will be expected to secure, and where appropriate lead, external research funding in line with departmental priorities.

A key aspect of the role is developing external partnerships with clinical, NHS, and third-sector organisations to support research collaboration, knowledge exchange, and student opportunities such as placements and applied learning.

The role includes contributing to departmental leadership commensurate with seniority, encompassing programme or module leadership, mentoring colleagues, and involvement in strategic initiatives related to the expansion of clinical provision.

The successful candidate will also contribute to broader academic life, including administrative responsibilities, quality assurance, and activities supporting student experience and engagement.

We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, or mental health research and practice, particularly those whose work has clear clinical or translational relevance to mental health, ageing and wellbeing.

We offer a generous annual leave package plus discretionary closure days, excellent training and development opportunities, an occupational pension scheme, and health-related support. The University is committed to a hybrid working approach.

Closing date for applications: 27 May 2026 (23:59pm).

Interviews will take place on the w/c on the 15 June 2026, in-person (or virtually if needed)
