Company description:
We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
Job description:
Newcastle Law School seeks to appoint a Reader in Law to join our forward-thinking, inclusive Russell Group Law School that seeks to embed its values in all that it does: Challenge; Social Justice; Compassion; Wellbeing; Excellence; Responsibility; and Respect.
We are looking for an outstanding scholar and an inspirational/dedicated educator. You should have a strong track record of producing internationally excellent and world leading research and an established and growing international standing and reputation. Experience of funding success, impact and/or a willingness to collaborate across legal fields, other disciplines and engage with industry and/or external partners is also desirable. You should have demonstrable experience of module design, module leadership and teaching in at least one of the following areas - Contract, Commercial, Land and/or Equity. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. A record of attracting and supervising Postgraduate Research students is also required.
Newcastle Law School is a globally connected, locally rooted and compassionate community. We embrace diversity and advance social justice by addressing contemporary and future challenges through our research, our scholarship, our engagement with partners, and as a lasting impact of our legal education. We are based in Newcastle upon Tyne, a city with a wide variety of cultural, social and leisure offering, with outstanding schools and close proximity to beautiful nature and heritage sites. We want to appoint someone who shares our values, and who will work with us to realise them across all our areas of activity. We are particularly interested in the strengths and lived experiences of researchers from different ethnic groups and cultures to broaden the diversity of Newcastle Law School, as we strive to avoid perpetuating biases and oversights on legal research and legal education.
If you see yourself in the above description, then please consider applying. If you would like a confidential discussion about this role, you can contact Samantha Ryan, Head of Newcastle Law School at samantha.ryan@newcastle.ac.uk.
