About the role
We are seeking to appoint two Lecturers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering to help build a strong foundation for world‑changing research and research‑inspired education within the School of Engineering. You will join the Green Energy and Transport Research Group, a welcoming interdisciplinary team whose work aligns with the University’s ambition to deliver impactful research addressing real‑world challenges, particularly in areas such as power electronics, electrical machines, electronic control, smart grids and related technologies. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to nationally and internationally recognised research, develop collaborative projects with academic and industrial partners, and strengthen the School’s growing research impact.
Alongside research, the role carries a significant teaching and academic citizenship contribution. You will design and deliver high‑quality, student‑centred teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supervise student research projects, and contribute to curriculum development informed by the latest advances in engineering education. As part of the wider academic community at the University of Leicester, you will also undertake appropriate administrative and leadership responsibilities, support University activities, and help foster an inclusive, supportive and professionally enriching environment for students and colleagues alike.
About you
You will hold a good first degree in engineering or a closely related discipline, together with a PhD or equivalent research or industrial experience in a relevant field of electrical and electronic engineering. You will have a developing or established track record of high‑quality research publications and the ability to plan and deliver a substantive research programme, including the preparation of competitive funding proposals. A commitment to professional development, including working towards or holding professional registration and a recognised academic teaching qualification, is essential.
You will be an effective and engaging educator, able to inspire and motivate students through inclusive teaching, supervision and assessment practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, alongside the ability to manage competing demands and work collegially within a diverse academic community.
