Post Title: Technical Officer – Loan Store (Term-Time only)
FTE: 37 hours per week and 40 weeks per year (Term Time Only)

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield
The School of Creative Arts is looking for a motivated Technical Officer, Loan Store and team player to support the School and work as part of a customer-focused team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant and fun School of Creative Arts.
Main duties and responsibilities
You will support the efficient, daily operation of the School’s Loan Store by managing the safe and timely issuing, returning and maintenance of cameras, audio gear, lighting, grips and related equipment, providing customer‑focused support, maintaining compliance with Health & Safety standards.
You will contribute to teaching and research support, as well as events such as Open Days and Applicant Days.
Additional duties may include manual handling and other tasks that support broader School objectives.
Skills and experience required
You will have high quality customer service experience, ideally bringing experience of working in a technical role within higher‑education. Experience of media loan tracking and asset management is advantageous.
You will have a good working knowledge of the equipment used across Film and Television production, Audio production and Animation. Strong digital skills are essential, as are good numeracy, clear communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
You will be confident communicating with students, colleagues and external partners at all levels, and able to follow detailed instructions accurately. Ability to write risk assessments would be advantageous.
You will be flexible, adaptable to workload requirements and have a proactive approach to problem solving. You will have good organisational skills and have the ability to learn new techniques and new skills.
Qualifications required
You will be educated to A‑level standard or equivalent or proven experience. A degree‑level qualification in Film and Television Production, or an equivalent Creative Arts subject, would be advantageous.
