The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

Oxford’s Social Sciences Division is a global leader in research and education, bringing together more than 1,100 academics across fifteen departments. The Social Sciences Divisional Office works at the heart of the University to support world‑class education and research. Within this, the Divisional Education team supports all aspects of education provision and the delivery of the Division’s education strategy, spanning academic priorities, taught and research programmes, skills training, digital education, equality, diversity and inclusion, and student funding.

This is an exciting and stimulating role within a busy and highly motivated team in which you will support quality assurance and enhancement and academic administration in the Social Sciences Division.

About the Role

You will provide advice, guidance and support to departments on quality assurance and enhancement processes, procedures and policies relating to undergraduate and graduate studies, and on the implementation of aspects of divisional policy. You will also provide efficient and professional administrative and systems support to the Education team, contributing to its ongoing success in supporting academic and Professional Services staff and students in our departments, and the diverse range of work the team supports.

About You

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and ambitious individual to develop broad administrative experience in a university setting and to make a contribution to education provision in the Social Sciences Division. You will hold strong communication skills and have the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and discretion, working confidently with students and staff at all levels to explain policies and procedures.

With strong initiative and attention to detail, you will be comfortable working independently in a busy, customer‑focused environment, using digital systems and data confidently to support quality assurance processes, committee activity, and continuous improvement.

Application Process

You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.

For queries about the role, contact: recruitment@socsci.ox.ac.uk. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Sophie Herzberg, Deputy Head of Education Policy and Planning, at sophie.herzberg@socsci.ox.ac.uk.

The closing date for applications is midday on 18 May 2026.

Interviews will take place during week commencing 01 June 2026 and will be face to face.
