University Teacher - Fashion Design and Technology

Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for:  

You will bring a strong, applied background in fashion design and technology, with high-level industry experience. Your expertise may include pattern cutting, draping, creative concept development, garment development and ergonomics, across a range of product types. We are looking for a versatile and collegiate colleague with a broad and adaptable skill set who can contribute meaningfully to curriculum delivery and development. 

Working collaboratively with academic and technical colleagues, you will help to deliver innovative, high-quality teaching and ensure excellent student outcomes. You will contribute to curriculum development and pedagogic innovation, supporting a learning experience that combines traditional fashion design skills with emerging technologies and contemporary practice. 

The Fashion Design and Technology programme is rooted in collaborative, forward-looking approaches to fashion education, and we welcome applications from individuals who are keen to contribute across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. 

Key Requirements:  

• Strong applied expertise in fashion design and technology, grounded in industry‑informed practice 
• Experience of delivering engaging, hands‑on teaching in fashion design and/or fashion technology 
• High‑level skills in pattern cutting, draping and/or garment development, with an understanding of ergonomics and functionality 
• A contemporary outlook on fashion practice, including sustainability, production methods and emerging technologies 
• The ability to work collaboratively across academic, technical and industry contexts 
• A professional approach that aligns with a term‑time‑only role, supporting a flexible and focused teaching‑led working pattern 
• A genuine commitment to excellent student outcomes, innovative pedagogy and inclusive practice
