Growth and Grants Associate - Green Grids Initiative

Package:  Management and Specialist grade 6 from £35,608 to £46,049 per annum. Subject to annual pay award.

Full-time and Fixed Term until 31st March 2027

An internal secondment will be considered.  Requests for internal secondment should be discussed and pre-approved by the relevant line manager

Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for:

We are seeking a senior grants/finances manager with experience of government-funded projects. The role will be assigned to the overall management of the Green Grids Initiative grant. The post holder will be working closely with the project's academic leads, the Climate Compatible Growth Programme Manager, our Research and Innovation Office, collaborative partners, external consultants and wider University professional services.

The role holder will be managing all aspects of the grants administration related to GGI, with a focus on financial aspects, including procurement, approval of costs and invoices, monitoring budgets, and producing spend forecasts, support in various management aspects of the grants, periodic finance reports and financial claims.

The post would be particularly appropriate to experienced senior finance administrators with extensive knowledge of university processes and a strong working knowledge of corporate finance systems i.e. Agresso or similar.

The School of Social Sciences and Humanities is a diverse and inclusive School delivering excellence in learning and teaching, research, and enterprise across the Social Sciences and Humanities. The Loughborough Centre for Sustainable Transitions: Energy, Environment and Resilience (STEER) brings together large FCDO-funded programmes on Climate Compatible Growth and Modern Energy Cooking Services as well as innovative projects on inclusive and integrated energy planning and has succeeded in securing a new grant from the Global Grids Catalyst and Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) for Green Grids Initiative (GGI) Secretariat.

The Green Grids Initiative (GGI) GGI is tackling one of the most important, complex and challenging problems facing the planet today – accelerating the construction of the new grid infrastructure needed for a world powered by renewable energy. We are looking for an exceptional Grants Manager (GM) to support all finance aspects of the different grants, while also supporting in the day-to-day management. GGI has been given a mandate by the COP30 Presidency Brazil and the Climate High Level Champions, to drive forward coordination and collaboration across grids initiatives globally.

About You

  • You should have extensive experience in a senior financial role with the higher education sector and competency of working on finance and project management aspects of externally funded projects
  • Furthermore, you will have experience with preparation of periodic grant claims and preparation of project reports
  • Proficiency in using corporate financial management software (Agresso or similar)
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • You should also have be an excellent communicator with experience of management of external stakeholders.
