Fully Funded and Fee Waiver Scholarships

University of Huddersfield – School of Human and Health Sciences

The School of Human and Health Sciences offers various scholarship opportunities for MSc by Research and PhD. These are for UK applicants only and for the October 2026 start. All scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.

Fully Funded Scholarships

There are more projects than funded opportunities available, therefore this is a competitive application process. Prior to starting your application, you need to select one of our advertised projects and apply against the topic.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview by the 29th June 2026. It is anticipated that the interviews will take place between 6th July 20262 to 24th July 2026 via Teams. After interview the most outstanding applicants will be offered a studentship.

Funding: 3 years full-time research covering tuition fees and a tax-free bursary (stipend) starting at £21,805 for 2026/27.
Duration: 3 years full-time

Fee Waiver Scholarships

PhD Applications – Prior to starting your application you need to select one of our advertised projects and apply against the topic.
Funding: Fee waiver
Duration: 3 years full-time, or 6 years part-time
Location: Huddersfield / Online

MSc by Research applications – Prior to starting your application you need to select one of our advertised projects and apply against the topic.
Funding: Fee waiver
Duration: 1 year full-time, or 2 years part-time
Location: Huddersfield / Online

Application details

You must submit your application in full by Friday 19th June 2026, including the following documents:

  • A motivational email as to why you wish to apply for the scholarship, stating which project you are applying for.
  • A 2,000-word research proposal outlining how you plan to undertake the research topic you are applying for. For further guidance on writing a research proposal, please refer to the following webpage: www.hud.ac.uk/postgraduate/research/writing-a-research-proposal
  • Full CV
  • Provide copies of transcripts and certificates of all relevant academic and/or any professional qualifications.
  • Provide references from two individuals – (at least one to be an academic reference) please contact your referees and ask them to send your references directly to pgrscholarships@hud.ac.uk from their work email address. (references can be submitted late but must be received by 29th June 2026). 
  • Proof of eligibility – e.g. scan of your passport photo page
  • Please state the research topic number and title in the subject area of the email
