Mary Immaculate College is an autonomous, university-level, Catholic College of Education and the Liberal Arts. Founded in 1898, and linked academically with the University of Limerick, MIC is the oldest higher education institution in Limerick. Mary Immaculate College wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor in Home Economics on a Full Time, Permanent basis.
The School of Education (Post-Primary), St. Patrick’s Campus, Thurles is seeking an innovative and resourceful lecturer to teach on its new undergraduate programme in Home Economics. This post is due to commence in the Autumn Semester 2026. The successful applicant will play a critical role in the establishment of the programme and will be expected to take on module development and coordination duties.
The Assistant Professor in Home Economics will support the learning and teaching activities of Home Economics as part of the School of Education (Post-Primary), by ensuring the smooth running and operation of undergraduate modules in Food Studies, Textiles, Fashion and Design, and Family Resource Management.
Commitment to high-quality teaching and learning in a student-centred environment is important. Enthusiasm for a multi-disciplinary environment is desired. The person appointed must exhibit evidence of strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research as well as continued scholarly activity.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills so they can support the successful teaching and learning of Home Economics modules at MIC Thurles by liaising with other Home Economics lecturers, Home Economics Assistant, the Vice Dean MIC Thurles and other internal and external stakeholders.
