The Role
We are seeking a committed, forward-thinking, and highly capable Lecturer in Civil Engineering with the ability to contribute to teaching across Levels 3 to 7, supporting a diverse cohort of students from foundation level through to postgraduate study. The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality teaching and enhancing the student learning experience, confident in engaging students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and capable of contributing to curriculum development in a technically rigorous and evolving subject area.
The role requires the successful candidate to demonstrate:
- Strong subject expertise in Civil Engineering and related disciplines
- Proven ability to deliver engaging and effective teaching across Levels 3–7
- Commitment to high-quality learning, teaching, and assessment practice
- Ability to contribute to curriculum development and enhancement
- Engagement with professional practice and industry developments
- A collaborative approach to working within a team-focused academic environment
- An interest in or track record of scholarly activity and applied research
This role requires a proactive academic who can contribute to both teaching excellence and the continued development of a growing Civil Engineering provision.
The Person
You will have a strong background in Civil Engineering and be confident delivering teaching across core civil engineering subjects, ensuring high-quality learning, assessment, and student support across a range of technical areas.
You will hold a first degree and a PhD in Civil Engineering (both essential), demonstrating strong subject expertise and academic credibility. You will have the ability to teach effectively across a broad range of civil engineering topics aligned with Levels 3–7 provision, delivering engaging teaching and ensuring high-quality delivery across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, while also contributing to the development and enhancement of civil engineering education within a higher education environment.

The Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Surveying (CSCM) within the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment (ECE) at Kingston University is a thriving academic community delivering high-quality, industry-relevant education across construction management, surveying, and civil engineering disciplines.
