About the Role
Engineering at Derby is driving forward an ambitious vision to create an exceptional learning environment, expand our research excellence, and strengthen industry collaboration across the region and beyond. As part of this strategic growth, we seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Along with your research work, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our Electrical and Electronic Engineering programmes. You will need to engage with employers on your teaching to ensure it is aligned with the sector expectations. You will also be encouraged to work with Industry to build on existing research capabilities for the area.
In addition, you will play an instrumental role in delivering parts of our curriculum (in English) at our partner sites in China as a ‘flying faculty’, and will therefore be required to spend a proportion of the academic year based overseas (1-2 months). The role comes with the opportunity to help develop our collaboration and wider relationship.
About You
We are seeking an exceptional candidate with expertise in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. You will hold a good honours degree in a relevant discipline and ideally a PhD (or be close to completion), or possess equivalent professional achievement such as published research. Fellowship of Advance HE is desirable, or you will be willing to work towards this recognition.
You will bring significant subject‑specific experience that enables the development of new knowledge and innovation within the electrical and electronic engineering field. We are particularly interested in expertise related to Power Electronics Applications, Industrial Electronics, and Sustainable Electrical Power Systems.
You will also bring knowledge or experience of higher education, with the ability to deliver teaching using a range of approaches that support and motivate students. You will be confident in communicating complex and conceptual ideas in a clear and accessible way to diverse groups, helping to create a positive learning environment in which all students can engage and succeed. Through your teaching and subject expertise, you will contribute to an enriching academic experience that connects theory with practical application and supports student development.
