The University is a global institution known for innovation and world firsts, with 25 Nobel Prize winners. The computer revolution started here in 1948 when a machine known affectionately as ‘The Baby’, ran its first stored program. The celebrated wartime codebreaker Alan Turing worked on this computer during his time at Manchester.
The University has committed to becoming one of the world’s leading research institutions through one of the largest investments in facilities ever seen at a UK university, with £750 million spent so far and another £1 billion to follow.
School of Medical Sciences Teaching, Learning & Student Experience team
The School of Medical Sciences is home to a 5-year Undergraduate Medical Programme (MBChB), 2 Undergraduate Dentistry Programmes, a Physicians Associates Programme, a portfolio of around 27 PGT programmes, and international activity across many of these programmes.
In the Teaching, Learning & Student Experience team, we play a central role in supporting the delivery of high quality education across a wide variety of taught programmes. We work collaboratively with academic colleagues, NHS partners and other, central Professional Services teams to lead and support a wide range of teaching and learning activities, including curriculum delivery, assessment, placement management and student support, underpinned by complex digital systems and data driven approaches.
This role
In this senior role, you will lead high impact digital and service improvement initiatives for two key programmes of study within the School, providing strategic direction, robust governance and constructive challenge. You will work closely with academic colleagues, NHS partners, Professional Services teams and IT Services, influencing decision making and ensuring that our digital services are reliable, compliant and future focused.
Alongside this strategic leadership, you will provide oversight of the day to day delivery of the current 1Med applications. You will guide a small team of technical and administrative colleagues to ensure BAU services run smoothly, ongoing enhancements are delivered effectively, and risks, issues and dependencies are well managed.
This is a unique and varied position where no two days are the same — balancing strategic digital transformation with operational oversight of critical Teaching & Learning systems.
