We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering for a dedicated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our projects on 3D Concrete Printing funded by the Royal Society and EPSRC. These projects, in collaboration with Cardiff University in the UK, Stellenbosch University in South Africa, and Hyperion Robotics UK Ltd, aim to enhance construction productivity by using the state-of-the-art construction method (i.e., 3D-concrete-printing technology) and reduce environmental footprints by using advanced low-carbon concrete materials (i.e., geopolymer concrete).
Educated to PhD level, you will possess good knowledge of concrete technology, geopolymer concrete materials, and 3D-concrete-printing technology. You have good experience in conducting independent experimental research studies in this field. You will develop and investigate properties of 3D-printed concretes, and then evaluate the mechanical properties, durability properties, and structural performance of 3D-printed concrete materials and structures at various length scales. You will plan, schedule, and conduct experimental work as per the project plan, analyse and interpret the experimental results, monitor progress, and discuss results in supervisory meetings. You will prepare reports and peer-reviewed scientific papers describing the outcome of the research for publication and presentation at conferences.
This post is fixed-term for a maximum duration of 9 months full-time or part-time equivalent, ending on or before 31 March 2027. There is a potential for extension of the post for 3 months until 30 June 2027.
