We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The Role
This is a key role within the School of Dental Sciences and will involve delivery of high-quality education and research activities.
The post-holder will be required to contribute to the leadership, organisation, and delivery of teaching in the broad area of Restorative Dentistry with a focus in Endodontics. In addition to the delivery of clinical teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes relating to dentistry, we would also expect the candidate to contribute to leadership and organisation of school-wide education activity.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong programme of research to complement existing research activities in the School, Faculty of Medical Sciences and University. The candidate will build on existing research in one or more of our three school research strands of Applied Oral Health Research, Translational Oral Bioscience and Dental Education Research. The candidate should look to develop expertise more widely in oral health and education research including to establish, where possible, new collaborations locally, nationally and internationally.
The appointee will be appointed at an Honorary Consultant level and will be expected to contribute to clinical services in the discipline of Endodontics within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which hosts the Newcastle Dental Hospital.
The University has developed an Academic Job Summary Guidance document which summarises the range of activities that academic colleagues may be expected to perform.
