The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) hosted by the University of York is a partnership with the Universities of Sheffield and Leeds. The Hub draws together three UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered trials units and centres of excellence in applied research methods, public involvement and research inclusion from across the partners.

We are seeking an experienced administrator to join our busy team, supporting the day-to-day operations of the RSS Hub. The ideal candidate will be someone who exhibits an enthusiastic, professional and thorough approach to their work. You must be able to demonstrate a high standard of administrative experience and possess excellent IT skills. You will also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy working as a member of a busy team and be prepared to learn new skills and have a flexible approach to managing a diverse workload.

Role

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the RSS Hub as agreed by the RSS Hub Programme Manager and RSS Hub Programme Administrator.
  • Co- ordination of diaries and, arranging and servicing internal and external meetings.
  • Filtering enquiries and drafting and preparing relevant documentation.
  • Organise and support events and workshops with the wider team.
  • Manage and coordinate travel bookings for the RSS team. Ensure that all travel is recorded in the appropriate systems and provide reports where required.
  • Work closely with the RSS Patient and Public Involvement Strategic Lead to ensure the efficient operation of the remuneration and expenses payments to public contributors in line with NIHR guidance and University of York policy.
  • Maintain the RSS Hub database, ensuring that Advisors from across the Hub maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed

  • Experience of working in an administrative role in a busy office environment.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to apply initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Friendly, adaptable and able to work accurately to tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in building successful working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Qualifications to include 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C/grade 4-9 or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • Excellent communication skills.
