The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly organised and proactive Research Grants and Finance Coordinator to join University Information Services (UIS).

This pivotal role will support the administration of research funding and financial operations, contributing to the success of our innovative projects. UIS is a centralised department within the University. We work collaboratively with colleagues in departments, colleges, and other institutions to provide a range of IT services to support the needs of all users at the University.

The Department's Research Computing Services (RCS) has accumulated increasing levels of grant funding over recent years, working with both internal departments and external institutes. Research Computing Services (RCS) designs, deploys and maintains some of the world's highest-performance computational and data storage systems. We offer advanced, secure and scalable digital research infrastructure for the University, the wider UK academic community, and select commercial partners.

What you will be doing

  • Manage the application process for research grants, ensuring compliance with funding body requirements.
  • Oversee the financial administration of grants, including budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with researchers and administrative staff to provide guidance on grant management and financial policies.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of training and resources related to grant applications and financial management.

What we're looking for

  • Strong understanding of research funding mechanisms and financial management.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using Worktribe as well as the Universities Oracle Finance System would be beneficial.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Previous experience in grant administration or finance in an academic setting is highly desirable.
