The Centre for Psychosocial Research in Cancer (CentRIC) is seeking an outstanding individual to join our team and contribute to increasing the impact of our research programme.

CentRIC is a world-leading centre dedicated to transforming how people affected by cancer are supported. Our research focuses on understanding the psychosocial impact of cancer on everyday life and developing and testing innovative solutions that help people live well. We work closely with people affected by cancer, healthcare professionals, commissioners, policy makers and charities, ensuring that their insights guide the development of patient-centred care. Our research involves people at increased genetic risk of cancer, those living with and beyond cancer, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

The post-holder will support the delivery of an ESRC Impact Acceleration project under the supervision of Professor Claire Foster, Co-Director, and members of the research team. The team have worked with patients, healthcare professionals, subject experts and charities to co-design Lynch Choices, a publicly available website designed for people with Lynch Syndrome to help them make decisions about their cancer risk management (funded by Cancer Research UK). Key activities will include working with a wide range of stakeholders to support updates to Lynch Choices to ensure it is up to date with the latest evidence and appealing to a wide audience, wide dissemination strategy to support inclusion and use of Lynch Choices and gathering evidence of impact. 

Core responsibilities will include engaging with stakeholders, including patients, health professionals and charities, developing recruitment processes, collecting data through interviews, stakeholder groups and surveys, and undertake quantitative and qualitative analysis to support refinements to Lynch Choices, wide implementation of Lynch Choices, report both usage and impact data. Additional responsibilities include ethics applications, grant development, report writing, publications and dissemination through presentations to a range of audiences (including patients, health professionals and charities).

You will have excellent communication skills and substantial experience of working with a range of stakeholders to support inclusion and implementation of digital technologies in health/social care settings. You will have both qualitative research skills and experience of survey design and analysis (SPSS and Qualtrics). Excellent academic writing skills are essential, as is the ability to present to both specialist and non-specialist audiences to support knowledge exchange and pathways to impact. Experience of working with a range of stakeholders is essential - including patients as research partners, healthcare professionals and charities. Effective collaboration is essential, both within the CentRIC team - which includes researchers, administrative staff and web developers - and with external partners and members of the public/service users.

The post is based within the School of Health Sciences at one of the UK’s leading research universities, which offers excellent facilities and is recognised for its world-class academic staff and strong national and international reputation.

This post is offered at 0.3FTE FTE for one year commencing 1 July 2026. Applicants should have a Formal qualification(s) equivalent to Level 8 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework e.g. PhD in Health Sciences or Level 8 award, certificate, diploma.
