About the role:

The Departmental Facilities Assistant is critical to the smooth running of the Department of Aeronautics to ensure that the environment in which our staff and students work and study is at the highest standards.

What you would be doing:

  • You will be among the first of our colleagues on campus at the start of the day to ensure the Department’s common spaces, meeting rooms and teaching spaces are prepared.
  • You will be proactive with excellent attention to detail, high standards, and will work closely with the Building Champions and other colleagues in the Property Division to ensure that any issues with maintenance or cleaning are properly logged and addressed in a timely manner. These skills will also be critical in the reporting and analysis required to enable the department to demonstrate consistency in its receipting of goods and associated timely payment of invoices.

What we are looking for:

  • The candidate should be educated to A level standard or equivalent vocational qualification or experience
  • Experience in a facility-focussed role such as cleaning or maintenance
  • Experience of delivering a customer-focussed service
  • Experience of reviewing and editing reports (usually downloaded as a spreadsheet)
  • Experience of using an online system such as a finance or maintenance system.

Further Information

This is a permanent role for 25 hours per week and is available immediately. The salary is £37,108 to £40,166 (pro-rata).

This role requires the ability to carry out light manual handling tasks including moving tables and opening or closing meeting room partitions, in accordance with health and safety guidance. Appropriate training will be provided and should be kept up to date and reasonable adjustments where necessary will be considered.

It is expected that the hours for this role will be split equally across the week and start no later than 8am. Typical working hours are expected to be 07:30/08:00 to 13:30/14:00 including a 1 hour unpaid lunch break.
