We are seeking to appoint a Professor and Head of Department of Social and Psychological Sciences in the School of Human and Health Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to join the University as we progress with ambitious development and expansion plans in the School, including within our new National Health Innovation Campus.
The School of Human and Health Sciences is the largest in the University with approximately 5000 students and 300 members of staff. The Department of Social and Psychological Sciences has over 900 students, within a suite of undergraduate, postgraduate and research provision. There is a vibrant culture of research, innovation and enterprise within the Department, within structures of Research Centres and Groups.
The role provides:
- Strategic leadership and management across the Department’s portfolio, including responsibility for staff, resources, and performance.
- Leadership of the development and delivery of new initiatives across research, innovation, enterprise, and taught provision, ensuring alignment with School and University priorities.
As a member of the School Senior Leadership Team, you will play a central role in shaping and influencing School-level strategy and decision-making, contributing to the achievement of institutional objectives. The role also offers the opportunity to represent the School at University level through participation in key committees and membership of the University Management Group, contributing to cross-institutional leadership and governance.
You will have held leadership roles within educational settings, be qualified to doctoral level in a relevant field, registered with the Higher Education Academy and have CMI status or be willing to complete this within 12 months of appointment. You will be a Professor in a relevant field or will be able to demonstrate meeting the University’s criteria for Professor conferment, including a track record of research publications and income generation.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all.
