Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield
Main duties and responsibilities
You will provide expert immigration advice and support to international students and their dependants, ensuring compliance with Home Office regulations and professional standards. Acting as a central point of contact, you will handle complex casework, support visa applications and CAS processes, and maintain accurate, auditable records while liaising with UK Visas and Immigration where necessary. You will also contribute to institutional compliance through sponsor reporting, right to study checks, and use of the Sponsor Management System, alongside delivering clear guidance, training, and communications to students and staff. In addition, you will support wider student administration activities, engage in continuous professional development, and contribute to the effective operation and development of the Student Immigration Team.
Skills and experience required
You will have substantial experience of advising international students on UK student immigration matters, including Student route applications, with demonstrable knowledge of the UK Immigration Rules as they relate to the Student Route and sponsor compliance. You will have experience of using the UKVI Sponsor Management System (SMS), handling complex or sensitive immigration casework, and working within a regulated advice framework with accurate record-keeping and audit-ready case notes. You will be able to interpret immigration policy and explain it clearly to non-specialist audiences, work collaboratively with colleagues to resolve immigration-related issues, and deliver training on immigration related topics.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide clear, accurate, and empathetic advice, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound judgement. You will be able to manage a varied caseload, prioritise effectively, and work to deadlines, while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in compliance-sensitive work and working confidentially with sensitive personal data. You will demonstrate professionalism and integrity, a student-focused approach balanced with sponsor duties, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of immigration law and policy.
Qualifications required
You will be educated to minimum of a degree or equivalent, or proven experience and Qualified to provide immigration advice in line with the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) at the appropriate level (or demonstrable ability to achieve this within an agreed timeframe).
