Mansfield College is seeking an organised and proactive Academic Officer to join its Academic Office. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of a diverse and inclusive Oxford college community, supporting the administration of student academic life and helping to ensure the smooth delivery of academic processes.

The Academic Officer works closely with academic and professional services colleagues across the College and University, providing support in areas including examinations, student progression, graduation, scholarships and prizes, academic records, committee administration, and student support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate internal and public examination arrangements, including invigilation.
  • Support student progression monitoring and academic casework processes.
  • Administer student status changes, academic records, transcripts, and student documentation.
  • Support disabled students and contribute to an inclusive academic environment.
  • Manage graduation arrangements and Degree Day celebrations.
  • Administer scholarships, prizes, exhibitions, and academic financial awards.
  • Coordinate teaching administration through University systems.
  • Support student feedback processes and maintain academic information resources.
  • Act as Secretary to the College Welfare Committee.
  • Provide general administrative support within the Academic Office and assist colleagues during busy periods.

About You

You will have:

  • Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
  • Sound judgement, discretion, and experience handling confidential information.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • An appreciation of the values of a collegiate academic environment and sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

Experience of academic administration within higher education and an understanding of student support issues would be advantageous.
