The University is seeking to appoint a Professor of Management Studies with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, from 1 September 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. This post is a statutory chair and the postholder will also become a Fellow of Wadham College.

The post is based at Saïd Business School and offers an outstanding opportunity for a high-calibre academic leader to shape and lead globally significant research in entrepreneurship and innovation. The Professor will contribute to the School’s strategic development in entrepreneurship, innovation, and management studies, reinforcing Oxford’s position as a centre of global entrepreneurial impact. The successful candidate will join a thriving and well-resourced research environment, including engagement with the Entrepreneurship Centre, Oxford University Innovation, the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, and related interdisciplinary initiatives across the University.

The Professor will be expected to provide intellectual and strategic leadership in entrepreneurship and innovation research across the Business School and wider University, fostering collaborations nationally and internationally with academic, industry, government, and civil society partners. The postholder will contribute to Oxford’s wider entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, including partnerships connected with the Oxford-Cambridge innovation corridor, the Equinox project, and translational and applied innovation initiatives across the University.

The University aims to recruit an internationally outstanding scholar with a distinguished record of research, teaching, and academic leadership in entrepreneurship and innovation within management studies or related disciplines. Candidates may come from any relevant business and management field represented within the School, including accounting, economics, finance, international business, management science, marketing, organisation studies, strategy and innovation, technology and operations management, or related areas. The successful candidate will have an outstanding publication record in leading academic journals, a strong record of research impact and engagement with practice, and a demonstrated ability to lead and inspire research communities and educational programmes at the highest international level.

The Professor will be expected to contribute to the School’s research strategy and academic leadership, teach on graduate and executive programmes including the MBA and Executive MBA, supervise doctoral students, and contribute to executive education activities. The postholder will also be expected to attract external research funding and support the development of interdisciplinary and externally engaged research initiatives.
