DTU Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (KT) invite applications for a position as Assistant or Associate Professor from candidates who are motivated to combine excellent research with active engagement in innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry collaboration.

KT has a strong tradition of impactful research and close collaboration with industry. Building on this foundation, the department is now strengthening its innovation ecosystem with a clear ambition to translate research into societal and industrial value through startups, new technologies, and deeper engagement of researchers and students in innovation activities.

Responsibilities 
You are expected to:

  • Establish and lead an independent, internationally visible research program within chemical, biochemical, or materials engineering.
  • Actively contribute to innovation-driven activities at KT, including early-stage technology maturation, industry-facing projects, and research-based entrepreneurship.
  • Engage in or help initiate startup activities, innovation projects, or translational research pathways emerging from academic research.
  • Support and stimulate innovation engagement among students, PhD students, postdocs, and junior researchers, for example through project-based teaching, supervision, or innovation workshops.
  • Contribute to external funding activities, including both traditional research grants and innovation- or translation-oriented funding schemes.
  • Participate in teaching and supervision across relevant courses for BSc, MSc, and PhD levels, integrating innovation perspectives where relevant.

Required qualifications
You can demonstrate:

  • A PhD in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field.
  • A strong track record or clear potential for high-quality academic research and publications.
  • Experience with or strong motivation for innovation activities, such as: 
    • Industry collaboration
    • Technology development or scale‑up
    • Commercialization, patents, or startup involvement
    • Translational or applied research projects
    • Development of innovation course for chemical/biochemical engineering curriculum
  • Ability to work at the interface between fundamental research and application, and to identify innovation opportunities within research results.
  • Commitment to collaborative research environments and interdisciplinary work.
  • Being a strong team player.

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.
