About the Role
The School of Environment and Society (SSE) are pleased to announce that we are seeking an exceptional individual to take up the role of Strategic Development Manager.
The role is to support the development of SSE after a merger of three academic schools into one new school. The post-holder will drive partnership development, enhance employability by leading initiatives that bridge academic learning with real-world opportunities.
About You
As a member of the School of Environment and Society (SSE) Senior Leadership Team, the post-holder will provide a highly professional and strategic service, leading the School’s strategic partnerships agenda. The role will focus on developing, nurturing and sustaining long-term relationships with key external partners and stakeholders to enhance the School’s visibility, growth and impact.
The successful candidate will lead partnership development initiatives that strengthen employability, creating meaningful links between academic learning and real-world opportunities. They will also be responsible for maintaining and developing existing partnerships, ensuring these relationships continue to deliver value for the School.
In addition, the role will play a key part in supporting SSE’s ongoing integration and alignment of processes and procedures following the School’s recent formation, working closely with senior colleagues across academic and professional services teams.

The School of Environment and Society at Queen Mary University of London brings together three academic departments: History, Geography, and International Relations. Newly formed, the School comprises approximately 150 academic staff and supports a highly diverse student body.
The School offers a broad-ranging and methodologically plural curriculum across its three departments, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and addressing some of the most pressing social, environmental and global challenges of our time.
