The role

We are seeking a Digital Learning Experience (DLX) Developer (maternity cover) to join our Directorate of Online and Digital Learning. This is an opportunity to play a visible role in improving how staff and students experience digital learning at Surrey, through practical, user‑centred enhancements. You will work closely with academic colleagues and central teams to identify areas for improvement in teaching, learning and assessment journeys, and design simple, scalable improvements (inc. support, training, processes, or new developments) that make a real impact.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys solving real problems, working closely with users, and delivering tangible improvements at pace.

About you

The post holder will have:

  • Experience in designing or supporting digital learning in a higher education or similar context
  • Strong understanding of pedagogic principles for online and blended learning
  • Ability to apply user‑centred design approaches to improve usability and clarity
  • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design practices
  • Confidence working with academic staff to influence and support change
  • Ability to identify practical solutions and deliver improvements independently
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain ideas clearly and work collaboratively
