About us

Research and innovation are at the heart of King’s College London’s mission to make a positive difference in the world. The Research Management & Innovation Directorate (RMID) leads this ambition by shaping and enabling the university’s research and innovation agenda, ensuring an environment in which our researchers, professional staff and doctoral students can excel. This work is guided by King’s Strategy 2030, which emphasises academic excellence, real‑world impact, and a thriving reserach culture.

The Department of Research Governance, Ethics and Integrity (RGEI) safeguards the quality and credibility of research across the university. It ensures all research is conducted safely, ethically, lawfully, and to the highest standards of integrity. Through the development of policies, systems, guidance, and training, RGEI supports researchers to navigate regulatory requirements and deliver high-quality research with confidence.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Research Governance Office (RGO) at King’s, supporting the set-up and management of high-quality clinical research.

King’s is committed to delivering world-leading, ethically robust research with meaningful societal impact. This role is central to that ambition, ensuring that all King’s-sponsored clinical and health-related research is conducted in line with the highest standards of governance, integrity, and regulatory compliance. You will contribute to enhancing research quality, strengthening partnerships across King’s Health Partners, and supporting a more efficient, researcher-focused operating environment.

The role sits within the expanding RGO as part of the new KCL Clinical Research Hub, working closely with colleagues across RGEI, the King’s Clinical Trials Unit (KCTU), and Pre-Award and Contracts teams. Reporting to the Research Governance Manager, you will support research requiring HRA, NHS, and Social Care approvals, ensuring compliance with the UK Policy Framework and applicable regulations.

You will manage a varied portfolio of studies, developing expertise across a range of methodologies, from qualitative and basic science research to complex regulated studies such as CTIMPs. The role involves providing clear, authoritative advice on sponsorship requirements, HRA and REC processes, amendments, and regulatory submissions.

Key responsibilities include conducting governance and sponsorship reviews, contributing to proportionate policies and guidance, delivering training, and maintaining oversight of sponsored studies. You will work collaboratively with academic, clinical, and professional services colleagues to drive improvements in efficiency, compliance, and service quality.

The role is offered as a one-year fixed-term contract, with hybrid working and a base at the Lavington Street Building, Waterloo Campus.
