About the Role
This role is responsible for the strategic leadership of all events, ceremonies and other high-profile stakeholder engagements across Queen Mary. The role holder acts as a leader across the University to ensure the effective decision-making, planning, execution and evaluation of all university events throughout the year. This system-level role requires close collaboration with all levels of academic and Professional Service leadership throughout Queen Mary’s Faculties and PS Directorates. The role holder is also responsible for leading (whether formally or through a community of practice) Queen Mary’s community of events professionals and (as the university’s disciplinary lead for events) ensuring all events follow best practice in stakeholder management and event experience, compliance and risk management, and return on investment.
About You
You should have experience and skills in major procurement and the management of large budgets; team and people management and leadership, including performance management; knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation in relation to events and venue operations, with the experience of managing risk assessments, implementation of controls and related actions; customer/stakeholder relationship management in relation to events; working with senior leadership teams and/or Boards and Committees; leadership and matrix management within a large and complex organisation. You should also have proven knowledge of current standards and best practice in the field of event management. Proven experience of developing and delivering compelling event and/or related strategies is also an advantage.
