Teaching and Research

As an AACSB accredited Business School, we are driven by social purpose. We are committed to inspiring and empowering students and staff to realise their full potential and to make positive change. This is an exciting time to join us as we are looking to build on our current successes, our heritage and our strategic location.

Our research is challenge-led and world leading. The most recent Research Excellence framework (of 2021) indicated that 82% of our research was 'world-leading or internationally excellent', placing us in the top quartile in terms of outputs in the UK. This research, which is led by three Research Centres, aims to deliver impact and be externally funded.

We offer programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, both nationally (from our Surrey and Central London campuses) and internationally through our global partnerships with the University of London. We aim to provide an outstanding student experience, which teaches the skills needed to join leading organisations or set up new businesses. Royal Holloway Business School (RHBS) is a leader in progressive education.

The Candidate

You will hold a PhD in a cognate area of operations and supply chain management and bring a strong track record of world leading research outputs, grant capture and contributions to your field’s research environment. We are keen to receive applications from candidates with expertise which aligns with the interests of our interdisciplinary research centres, particularly concerning AI and sustainability in global supply chains, logistics systems, and the circular economy. You will have a robust pipeline of forthcoming outputs and a clear plan to advance your research agenda that aligns with the institution’s RH2030s strategy.

Our university is driven by social purpose and seeks to advance positive change. You will be able to show clear examples of impact and knowledge exchange with external stakeholders, which is anchored to your challenge-led research portfolio. We welcome applications from candidates with relevant professional experience that can enhance the real-world impact of their research.

You will have an evidenced record of high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in operations management, logistics, project management, and supply chain analytics, and will be able to showcase examples of innovative pedagogic practice. You will also be able to demonstrate examples of how you have successfully embedded industry collaboration into your teaching practice, to equip students with the employability skills and professional knowledge to excel in their careers. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who have experience in designing and facilitating executive education.

The post is based across the university’s main campus in Egham, Surrey and our Central London campus.
