Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield 

Main duties and responsibilities

The successful applicant will support students studying on the brand new MBBS programme. You will be responsible for the preparation of practical teaching equipment including, plastinated human specimens, full-body manikins, skills trainers, anatomy models and medical devices, and an array of digital teaching aids including Anatomage Tables, Immersive Rooms and VR facilities. This will also include the maintenance and operation of simulation equipment. You will also be responsible for trouble shooting and resolving issues and clearing away at the end of each session using appropriate disposal methods.

You will be responsible for carrying out stock levels duties, maintaining relevant inventories and following procedures for replenishing stocks of consumables as appropriate. You will assist with the general management and housekeeping of the teaching spaces and other facilities to ensure that they are maintained in a safe condition. You will have a good knowledge of the relevant safety procedures applicable to the healthcare teaching spaces and ensure that health and safety regulations, national and local rules, are complied with. You will also support academic staff with knowledge sharing regarding the use of simulation equipment and facilities, other teaching equipment, skills trainers and manikins. 

Skills and experience required

You will have good communication skills with the ability to act independently and as part of a team. You will be motivated, driven, with good use of initiative and have good IT and organisational skills. The ability to problem solve with the ability to follow detailed instructions comprehensively and be flexible, adaptable and reliable is essential. Good timekeeping is essential as is the ability to demonstrate various techniques to students, staff and visitors. 

Experience of working with, and maintaining, skills trainers and high-fidelity manikins and knowledge of medical/health related teaching equipment is essential. You will have the ability to perform the essential duties of the role, including regular manual handling tasks such as lifting, carrying and moving equipment/materials, with reasonable adjustments if required. Experience of working in a medical or teaching environment in a technical role would be advantageous. Experience with simulation technologies would also be advantageous. 

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent or proven experience.
