The Division of Media, Communication and Performing Arts (MCPA) seeks to appoint an Assistant Lecturer in Drama and Performance. The primary purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with an established team of academics to deliver primarily undergraduate courses, with a focus on Ba(Hons) Drama.

QMU has a long track record of delivering industry-relevant Arts degrees. Joining an established team of academics and practitioners, you would contribute to the delivery of existing modules from QMU’s well-established courses to provide students with a practical, broad and employable skill set.

The successful candidate will require academic and practical knowledge and understanding of the wider field of performance. They are expected to provide up-to-date industry-relevant expertise in the broad area of Drama and Performance, with a focus on teaching theatre making skills, including text-based performance and directing.

Applicants should have significant professional or independent practice experience and should have previously taught in an HE context. They would benefit from holding a postgraduate qualification in the relevant subject area.

The post holder would primarily focus on delivering existing undergraduate degree programmes and in addition, they may be required to contribute towards developing new modules related to their knowledge and expertise.

Modules that the postholder may be asked to contribute to include:

  • Staging Texts (T2190)
  • Introduction to Theatre & Performance Studies (T1179)
  • Analysing Texts (T1175)
  • Directing, Designing and Performing Contemporary Texts (T4208)
  • Undergraduate Dissertations: Honours Project (T4204)

The Division of Media, Communication and Performing Arts offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Drama, Content Creation, Arts Management, Acting, Costume, Strategic and Political Communications, Film, Media, Digital Marketing and Public Relations. The Division also has several successful collaborations with other organisations delivering QMU validated degree programmes. Staff within the Division submitted to REF 2021. If the post-holder has a track record of relevant research outputs, then they will be able to apply to join the Research and Knowledge Exchange Centre for Culture in Society.
