The Department of Neurodegenerative Disease is recognised as internationally leading in the study of neurodegenerative diseases causing dementia and related disorders.
Based in the department, the UCL Huntington’s Disease (HD) Centre is a world-leading focus of research and clinical care in HD. Current research focuses on identifying the best combination of outcome measures (biomarkers) to assess disease onset and progression, and an increasing number of therapies are now being trialed, offering hope to hundreds of affected patients and families.
Professor Ed Wild, Associate Director of the HD Centre, leads multiple international studies to evaluate biomarkers and pathways of relevance to HD that will enable the development of new treatments. This includes HDClarity, an ongoing study that generates high quality samples of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord and may provide information about the brain and nervous system that is impossible to obtain in any way.
We are now recruiting a Study Research Assistant to join the HDClarity central coordinating team, based at UCL. You will work closely with Professor Ed Wild, the Study Manager, investigators and clinical staff at the study sites, and with representatives of the study funder. You will contribute to study-wide tasks as part of the central coordinating team, and support participant-facing activities at the UCL clinical site. You will be expected to liaise with study sites and external agencies - such as data repositories, data monitors, and expert advisors - to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the study. The research has a high public profile and often involves highly confidential information, so tact and discretion are essential.
The post is available from August 2026 and funded by CHDI until 30 April 2027 in the first instance.

Please do not upload any additional attachments as these will not be considered by the selection panel.
You will hold an Honours degree (minimum 2:1) or have equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, along with a solid understanding of health-related research techniques and methodologies. Experience working in a clinical research or academic environment, as well as the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, is essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills are also required for this role.
