The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of the UK’s most distinctive BA Illustration courses with real creative momentum and help shape the next generation of illustrators at Camberwell College of Arts.
As the BA Illustration Course Leader, you will play a pivotal role shaping the future direction of the BA Illustration course, supporting students to develop bold, critical and experimental illustration practice across contemporary visual media, providing academic vision, leadership and day-to-day management of the course.
You will lead curriculum development, teaching, assessment, student experience and quality enhancement, working closely with academic, technical and professional services colleagues to ensure the course remains current, inclusive, ambitious and professionally relevant.
You will also play an important role in building the course’s external profile, strengthening links with the wider illustration, creative and research communities, and supporting a culture of enterprise, experimentation and collaboration.
About you
This is a role for someone who can combine academic leadership with creative credibility, bringing enthusiasm, clarity and ambition to staff, students and the wider College community.
We are looking for an experienced educator and practitioner with strong knowledge of illustration in both academic and professional contexts. You will bring experience of undergraduate teaching and assessment, curriculum development and team leadership, alongside a significant industry, artistic or research profile.
Collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking, you will be able to inspire students and colleagues whilst maintaining high standards of course delivery, student support and creative practice.
