Location: Peterloo Court, Sheltered Housing Schemes across Greater Manchester

Looking to build a meaningful career in social care?

If you're passionate about supporting people, building relationships, and making a genuine difference in communities, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a real-world social care setting.

As an Independent Living Coordinator, you’ll work directly with older people in our sheltered housing schemes, helping them live independently, safely, and with dignity. Every day is different – combining practical problem-solving, emotional support, and community-based working.

About Us

We’re a not-for-profit housing association supporting over 20,000 people across Greater Manchester. We’re committed to reducing homelessness, creating affordable homes, and helping people thrive.

Our culture is people-first, flexible, and values-led – we empower colleagues to take ownership, use initiative, and develop their careers.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting older residents to maintain independence and wellbeing
  • Building trusted relationships and being a visible, approachable presence on schemes
  • Providing practical housing support and responding to individual needs
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns and acting appropriately
  • Working with internal teams and external partners to coordinate support
  • Ensuring schemes are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with health & safety
  • Encouraging resident involvement and helping create vibrant communities

About the role:

This is a hands-on, front-line role that will give you:

  • Direct experience supporting individuals with complex and varied needs
  • Exposure to safeguarding, housing support, and multidisciplinary working
  • Opportunity to develop professional boundaries and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced, real-world care environment
  • A strong foundation for a career in social work, housing, or community support

What We’re Looking For

We’re more interested in your values and attitude than your background.

You’ll be:

  • A confident communicator who enjoys working with people
  • Compassionate, resilient, and able to handle sensitive situations
  • Organised and able to manage competing priorities
  • Interested in social care, housing, or community work
  • Comfortable working independently and using your initiative
  • Reliable and flexible, particularly in emergency situations

Experience in a care, support, or customer-facing role is helpful – but not essential.

An enhanced DBS Disclosure check is required for this role and the ability to drive and have access to a car is desirable but not essential.

Our Commitment to You

We are proud to be an inclusive employer where everyone belongs. We will support you to grow, develop skills, and build a rewarding career.

If you want to make a difference, learn on the job, and be part of a supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.
