Hours: Full Time

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, creating a community where colleagues feel respected and valued. We aim to reflect the diversity of our students and communities, and to strengthen our university through collaboration and diverse perspectives, across all roles at the University.

The Faculty of Health Sciences is an established provider of high-quality undergraduate, degree apprenticeships and postgraduate education and research. Offering education to students from a range of professional groups, notably doctors, operating department practitioners, midwives, nurses, radiographers, physiotherapists and paramedics; the faculty plays a vital role in the development of the NHS future workforce. We attract students from across the UK and internationally and work alongside our local schools, partner colleges and health and social care provider organisations to promote healthcare professional careers to our local communities. We aim to be national leaders in innovative health professional education, leadership and enterprise, and are leading the future of education through immersive simulated practice learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a strong culture of inclusivity, sustainability and excellence.

A key element in our educational provision is the use of simulated practice environments to teach clinical skills. Our Centre for Clinical Skills and Simulation in the Allam Medical Building and the recently refurbished Loxley building, allows students to practice in a safe, supportive and realistic environment under expert supervision. The rooms contain healthcare equipment and supplies, in addition to a wide range of patient simulators and audio-visual technology. To ensure the optimal availability, maintenance, preparation and operation of this equipment and the Centre, we are seeking to employ a Trainee Clinical Skills Technician.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting with the provision of day to day technical and IT support for Clinical Skills and the Simulation Centre, reporting to the Clinical Skills Manger. The post involves the manipulation of room configuration, using high fidelity simulation equipment, clinical equipment, fake blood and other fluids and specific filming equipment. This post is suitable for someone who is comfortable in a clinical environment and working with realistic simulated situations and incidents.
