About the role

The Lecturer in Acting for Screen and Future Media will teach across our new industry-facing BA Acting for Screen, Stage and Future Media programme, one of the School’s new flagship programmes developed as part of our broader transformation in response to emerging CreaTech opportunities and changing industry needs. You will deliver and develop teaching, assessment and academic support in acting for screen and future media, including directing for camera and performance capture.

Responsibilities include module delivery, curriculum enhancement, student support, engagement with industry partners, contribution to recruitment, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate working from home.

This is a part-time position working 18.5 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until 31 July 2027 to cover a period of Maternity leave.

The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this post being undertaken.

You will have:

  • A postgraduate qualification (PhD or equivalent international qualification) or equivalent professional experience standing/recognition in areas such as acting and/or directing for screen performance or closely related areas.
  • In-depth knowledge of acting for screen, performance capture, virtual production and contemporary/future media, including camera techniques, screen grammar, on-set protocols, coaching for camera, self-tape production, voice and movement for screen contexts.
  • Capability in the administration and leadership of academic modules or programmes.
  • Currency in teaching or curriculum development in Higher Education, or the ability to evidence clear pedagogic potential in practice-led, industry-engaged or interdisciplinary teaching at HE level across acting for screen and related media.
  • A collaborative, multidisciplinary mindset, with the ability to work across subject boundaries and contribute positively to a team‑based academic culture.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, ethical considerations, and responsible innovation relevant to acting for screen practices, such as awareness of AI impacts in authorship, protection of vocal and physical identity, intellectual property and responsible technology use.
