Trinity College is looking for someone to join our staff as a Tutor in Theology and Academic Dean.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving Anglican theological college at a time of growth, renewal and ambition. As Tutor in Theology and Academic Dean you will play a key role in shaping the academic life of our College, joint with Bristol Baptist College.
Working within a passionate and supportive Christian community, you will have real scope to influence strategy, develop creative approaches and help the College reach new and more diverse audiences. This is not simply a delivery role: it is an opportunity to help shape the future direction, voice and public presence of the College.
The role
Trinity College seeks to appoint a full-time tutor, who will also serve as Academic Dean, to be responsible to the Associate Principal for the oversight and development of our academic programmes. The teaching specialism is intentionally open to enable us to appoint the candidate who will be the best fit for the leadership role. Some areas in which we are looking to further develop our provision include missiology, practical and ministerial theology, but specialists in other theological disciplines are encouraged to apply.
You will oversee an engaging academic programme which serves the needs of Trinity College and Bristol Baptist College. Trinity is in a partnership with Bristol Baptist College and the two separate colleges together constitute one Theological Education Institution (TEI). The Academic Dean oversees the programmes for the joint TEI. The programme will reflect the Colleges’ Christian ethos and academic mission, strengthen its identity and support student recruitment and the flourishing of all students.
The role requires a combination of academic excellence, creativity, strategic thinking and excellent communication skills, alongside the ability to work collaboratively across the organisation.
As a leader of the academic programmes, you will also engage with our postgraduate research programmes, through recruiting and supervising students and contributing to relevant academic guilds. You will also engage in your own research to further the academic reputation of the College.
