Warwick’s Design Studies department is seeking applications for a Teaching Fellow in Design Studies to join the School for Cross-faculty Studies - a dynamic interdisciplinary community committed to innovative teaching, critical inquiry, practice-led learning and real-world engagement.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing area of Design Studies within the School, supporting students to think critically and creatively about the role of design in addressing complex contemporary challenges.

For this role, we are seeking applicants whose teaching and research expertise align with Sustainability, Systems, Service, and/or Policy Design. Applicants should be able to demonstrate substantial experience and a strong track record of engagement in one or more of these areas through their teaching, research, professional practice or related work. Please note that applications which do not evidence expertise in these fields will not be considered.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and imaginative educator who is passionate about design as a pluralistic, socially engaged, interdisciplinary and future-focused practice.

The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher and communicator with the ability to engage and inspire students from a wide range of disciplinary and cultural backgrounds. They will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive, research-informed teaching and to creating learning environments that encourage experimentation, collaboration and critical reflection. The role will involve contributing to curriculum development, teaching, assessment and student support across our programmes in Design for Sustainable Innovation BASc (Hons), Design & Global Sustainable Development BASc (Hons and Design for Sustainability MASc (with WMG). We are therefore interested in applicants who can bring experience of design-led teaching practices, studio or project-based learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and creative approaches to pedagogy and assessment in line with the evolving roles of Design based in complexity and long-term processes.

We hope to recruit a reflective, ambitious and committed educator who is genuinely invested in the vision of Design Studies within the School for Cross-faculty Studies - an innovative and outward-looking interdisciplinary space that values critical thinking, creative experimentation, collaborative practice, and excellence in pedagogy. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about contributing to the continued development of Design Studies as a distinctive and forward-thinking area of teaching and learning at Warwick.
