About us
We are a vibrant, diverse Department that looks to lead innovation in education and research at one of the world’s leading universities. To support our ambition, King’s has invested in new multi-million-pound teaching and research laboratories of more than 3000 sqm for the Department at heart of its Strand campus, which opened in August 2022.
We celebrate diversity and actively promote an inclusive environment and encourage applicants from underrepresented groups. In moving our ambitions forward, we are continuing to appoint academics to join us in shaping the future of education and research for King’s Engineering.
We offer undergraduate and postgraduate education, with a distinctive approach, combining traditional teaching methods with modern, project-based learning, catering for the needs of our students and the industries in which they will work. It is essential that applicants have the enthusiasm and commitment needed to ensure the success of these programmes.
About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed academic to contribute to the design, delivery, and continuous enhancement of teaching within our Engineering programmes. The primary purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality, research-informed education that equips students with both strong theoretical foundations and practical, industry-relevant skills, particularly in electronics and embedded systems.
The postholder will take responsibility for leading and contributing to a range of modules across the undergraduate curriculum. This includes supporting Year 1 Electrical & Electronic Engineering through hands-on laboratory teaching in circuits, breadboarding, and soldering; co-leading Year 2 Design Engineering with a focus on PCB design and manufacture; and acting as Module Lead for both Year 2 Principles of Electronics and the final-year Embedded System Design module. These roles involve designing and delivering lectures, workshops, and project-based learning activities, as well as overseeing assessment and ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and current industry practice.
The role holder will be responsible to the relevant Programme and Department leadership and will work collaboratively with academic colleagues, technical staff, and professional services teams to ensure the effective delivery of modules and a high-quality student experience. They will also contribute to educational development by engaging in evidence-based teaching practice, driving innovation in pedagogy, and responding to student feedback through active engagement with student representatives.
In addition, the postholder will support outreach and widening participation activities, representing the department at events such as open days. They will also contribute to the administrative processes associated with teaching and assessment, ensuring smooth module operation and compliance with institutional requirements.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31 August 2027.
