The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division are looking to recruit a full-time Graduate Funding Assistant, who will assist with graduate funding processes within the Division. This post is offered on a fixed-term basis for two years with a six-month probationary period. The post provides an excellent opportunity to gain substantial experience of graduate funding administration and to develop a career in university administration in one of the UK’s leading universities.
The Graduate Funding Assistant (GFA) provides high-quality administrative support for graduate funding and day-to-day financial administration of studentships within the MPLS Division. The postholder will ensure efficient processes, in accordance with University regulations, financial controls and external stakeholder requirements to maintain compliance and a positive student experience. Acting as the first point of contact for administrative and academic colleagues, the role involves advising on processes and policies, maintaining accurate records, and supporting studentship allocation and delivery.
The Graduate Funding Assistant (GFA) will be a member of the Graduate Office headed by the Head of Graduate Policy and Administration. The GFA will report to the MPLS Graduate Funding Officer, and will be involved fully in graduate funding administration for the Division.
The postholder will require: strong quantitative and Excel skills; an ability to deliver administrative processes, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient, accurate execution of tasks and adherence to relevant policies procedures or regulations, both in a graduate studies and a financial context; the ability to take responsibility for planning their own tasks and contribute to short-term projects; a high level of discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information; and the capacity to communicate effectively with a wide-range of stakeholders, considering the audience to ensure clear and precise communication.
The postholder will be expected to apply a practical understanding of procedures to identify and swiftly resolve administrative matters, using initiative to make considered judgements when juggling multiple demands. They will need to be a fast learner, have proficient keyboard and word processing skills, be a good communicator and an excellent team player. Full training on the relevant systems and on regulations, policies and procedures will be provided.
The post is offered at Grade 5 on the University salary scale, with a salary range of £32,108 - £37,338. Appointment will be made at the first spine point of the range, £32,108.
This is a fixed-term position for two years and is offered on a full-time basis.
