Applications are invited for a permanent post of a Professor and Deputy Principal CDIC within UCD School of Architecture, Planning & Environmental Policy OR UCD School of Civil Engineering OR the UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (permanent and ongoing) AND UCD Chang’an-Dublin International College of Transportation (CDIC) at Chang’an University (for the first 5 years of tenure only).

This is a full-time permanent academic post. The appointee will become an academic associated with one of the UCD constituent Schools of CDIC, either the School of Architecture, Planning & Environmental Policy, the School of Civil Engineering or the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, through which they will manage their research and teaching activities under the remit of their Head of School. For the first 5 years of their appointment, the appointee will also serve as Deputy Principal of CDIC. The reporting line for their Deputy Principal CDIC duties will be to the Principal CDIC. The Head of School and the Principal CDIC will work collaboratively to achieve an appropriate balance of duties within the parameters of a normal academic workload of teaching & learning, research and administrative duties.

Particular to this position:

  • Given the nature of the role, a commitment to spending time at CDIC in Xi’an is required.
  • External appointees, or internal appointees currently teaching on CDIC programmes, will spend one Teaching Semester at CDIC and also spend up to six weeks, but no less than 3 weeks, including the first 3 weeks of the semester in the opposite semester to their teaching semester at CDIC.
  • Internal appointees currently fulfilling their teaching commitments on campus in Dublin, will spend six weeks per semester, including the first 3 weeks of each semester, at CDIC with existing on campus academic duties adjusted to suit.
  • Funding will be provided to the successful candidate to support a PhD student (PhD student fees and a PhD stipend) during the first 5 years of tenure as Deputy Principal CDIC. Expenses associated with travel and subsistence for the PhD student to travel to CDIC will also be covered by UCD, in line with the norms of student mobility in the College.

95 Professor (7939) Salary Scale: €106,611 - €142,500 Per Annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
