Department
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic and collegial education team as a Lecturer in Nursing at the Department of Health Sciences, University of York. The role is open to nurses from all fields of practice, but experience of working with, and the ability to teach on the care of children and young people would be desirable.
The role will primarily involve delivery of pre-registration BSc and Masters programme in Nursing. The Department offers a range of other undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes which the postholder will be able to contribute to. There is also the potential to become involved with other undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD opportunities over time.
We are seeking to appoint a committed and highly motivated registered nurse with a passion for nursing education and extensive knowledge of contemporary practice. Experience of teaching in higher education settings would be desirable, as would experience of involvement in the development and delivery of simulated practice learning.
The department is highly ranked, placing 5th in the UK for General Nursing (Guardian University Guide 2026) and 7th for Nursing and Midwifery (Complete University Guide 2026). The Department houses over 330 academics, researchers and support staff engaged in delivering research, education and professional development. Our core aim is to improve health and healthcare through the delivery of high-quality teaching and the application of challenge-led research to policy and practice. We are committed to underpinning our teaching with our internationally renowned research. The University has an institutional research strategy to which the Department contributes by developing strong and well-resourced research groups.
