Job Description:
Main duties and responsibilities
De Montfort University is a university of quality and distinctiveness, distinguished by our life-changing research, dynamic international partnerships, vibrant links with business and our commitment to excellence in learning, teaching and the student experience. We offer more than 300 courses at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate, many of which offer professional accreditations, and links to industry or work experience.
Directorate
Our award-winning People Services directorate plays a vital role in shaping the future of DMU. With a rich and diverse portfolio spanning People Partnering, Policy and Employee Relations, Wellbeing, International, Pay and Reward, Operations and Support, Talent, Learning and Organisational Development, we work collaboratively across the university to deliver high-quality, people-centred services that enable our colleagues and students to thrive. At the heart of our work is a commitment to attracting, developing, retaining and supporting talented colleagues, while partnering with leaders to deliver strategic priorities, drive organisational change and create an inclusive, engaging workplace. As we continue to evolve our People function, this is an exciting time to join us and play a key role in shaping how we support the university ambitions.
Role
As an Assistant People Partner (Operational Change and Employee Relations), you will play a key role in delivering organisational change and transformation initiatives across the university. Working as part of our newly established Change and Projects team within People Services, you will partner with leaders, managers and colleagues to support the successful delivery of restructures, workforce reviews, service redesigns and other strategic change programmes. You will provide specialist employee relations advice, coordinate consultation activity, manage operational change plans and lead delivery ensuring change is delivered fairly, consistently and in line with legislation, university policies and best practice. Working closely with the Senior People Partner (Change and Projects), People Partners and wider People Services colleagues, you will help leaders navigate complex change while balancing organisational priorities, colleague experience and operational requirements. As part of this role, you will line manage and support an HR Advisor, providing guidance, quality assurance and coaching to build capability and ensure the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused service.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced HR professional with a strong background in employee relations and the operational delivery of organisational change. You will have experience of supporting complex change programmes, including restructures, consultation processes, contractual changes and workforce transformation activity, with the ability to provide pragmatic, risk-based advice to leaders and managers. You will be confident working with stakeholders at all levels, analysing workforce information, managing competing priorities and translating complex employment matters into clear, practical solutions. A collaborative and supportive leader, you will also have experience of managing, coaching and developing others, helping to build capability within the team while contributing to a positive, inclusive and effective People Services function.
